Rosie McDonald
Rosie McDonald is a Sydney based musician/singer and well known figure in the folk music scene - both for her versatility, melifluous mezzo voice and rhythmic guitar playing. Rosie was naturally drawn to the music of Ireland and Scotland with a strong family heritage and musical gene . With influences as diverse as Bach, cool Jazz to Joni Mitchel and Planxty, a career highlight was supporting Andy Irvine with the band Seanchas. Rosie picked up guitar at age 11 and hasn't stopped playing.
Since winning a MusicOz Award back in 2007 Rosie has developed her songwriting skills with her own compositions, collaborating with Cliona Molins with a recent CD release of songs of the Convict women of Sydney with the #MothersoftheNation CD Project. Rosie has played with bands #Mothersofintention,#Folklore, #Seanchas, #RAPT, performs with partner Nigel Lever , and is part of #TheTrippyHippyBand.
Rosie is delighted to be part of the Irish/Australian collaboration of women artists called #ThePrankqueans and has performed with them for the past few years.
