The world turns green in mid-March every year to celebrate Ireland’s patriarchal saint, Patrick. However, Brigid who is both a Catholic saint and an ancient Celtic Goddess is Ireland’s matriarchal saint, traditionally celebrated annually in early February. She is the woman gradually stealing Patrick’s limelight.
The Prankqueans are an artistic collective of musicians, writers and performers who celebrate Irish Australian female creativity in song, music and spoken word. ‘Brigid the Rebel Healer‘ is the theme of our Brigid celebrations for 2025 as we offer consolation through art against the backdrop of a suffering planet and a world that seems increasingly to have lost its way. We will create a gentle space for the audience to enjoy beautiful ancient and contemporary Irish and Irish Australian wisdom through music, song and literary/ spoken word contributions, that offer hope through the healing power of ancient Celtic wisdom, art and craic (fun)
